ISSN Türkiye
Member since 1994
The ISSN Türkiye Centre has been a member of the ISSN International System since 1994. As the sole authorized unit responsible for assigning ISSNs to serial publications in Türkiye, our center operates under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Directorate General of Libraries and Publications.
ISSN operations are carried out by a team of four staff members: the Centre Director, Ayda PERÇİN, and librarians Meral ERDOĞAN, Dilay ÖZGÜR, Nur Özge ÇAKMAK. ISSN applications can be made online and there is no fee. The application forms, which contain an average of 23 bibliographic fields, are reviewed by the librarians based on the procedures of the International ISSN Centre and national regulations. Applications that comply with these procedures are approve.
From 1994 to mid-January 2025, a total of 21,146 serial publications have been assigned ISSNs.
The data in our system is shared through software integration with “TR Index” (a platform that indexes and provides full-text access to articles in national academic journals) and “DergiPark,” which hosts academic journals.
The core principle of the services we provide is to evaluate ISSN applications (either approval or rejection with justification) within one working day. We take pride in receiving thank-you messages from applicants due to this principle. For example, during the pandemic, a Publisher received a response from one of our staff via email at around 2:00 a.m. The publisher expressed their amazement at receiving such a prompt reply from a government institution for the first time, humorously stating that “if there was a record for this, your agency would have achieved it.
