Our Journey with the ISSN Network
The National Library Board (NLB) of Singapore was established in 1995. It nurtures Readers for Life, Learning Communities and a Knowledgeable Nation by promoting reading, learning and history through its network of 28 libraries across Singapore, the National Library and the National Archives of Singapore. The NLB proudly serves as Singapore's National Agency for the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), assigning these important identifiers to materials published in Singapore by local publishers.
Over the years, our team has grown and adapted alongside the evolving ISSN processes. Our National Centre has changed significantly, keeping pace with developments in publishing and information management.
Our strong partnership with the ISSN International Centre is crucial. We collaborate regularly to address local publishers' queries and ensure accurate ISSN assignments. This connection extends beyond borders, linking us with ISSN colleagues worldwide. Together, we form a robust network that supports publishers and enhances the global visibility of Singapore's publications.
Our dedication extends beyond mere number allocation; we actively engage with publishers, educating them about the importance of ISSN, guiding them through the application process, and ensuring correct display of assigned numbers. This proactive approach has significantly elevated the standards of Singapore's serial literature landscape.
We remain committed to excellence in ISSN assignment and to supporting the global scholarly community. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and look forward to many more years of collaboration within this esteemed network.
