ISSN Peru

Member since 2021

The ISSN National Centre of Peru was created in the same month and year as the bicentenary of the National Library of Peru (BNP), August 2021, making our institution the manager of this international code for the country's continuous resources.

The strategic alliance with the ISSN International Centre (CI-ISSN) has been a source of satisfaction for the institution and the Peruvian academic and research community from the outset, as they now have a national centre closer to them.

At the BNP, the management of international standard codes for books and serials is the responsibility of the Collections Management Department, headed by Catalina Zavala Barrios, and the assignment of ISSNs is carried out by librarian Richard Yaulilahua Palma.

With the generous support of the specialists at CI-ISSN (Paris) and the practical learning of what the ISSN covers and represents, we have resolved cases and answered queries that initially required more time and effort; we are now more familiar with them and committed to dealing with them promptly.

In order to strengthen our presence in this area, we organise and participate in activities such as information sessions in different institutions throughout the country, cultural events such as book fairs, promoting the use of this international identifier; we use the ISSN Plus as a tool for registering the metadata of Peruvian publications.

The details and the courtesy shown to those involved in this service are not alien to us; from the National Centre we practice the institutional values of the BNP: vocation to service, quality, equity, teamwork, integrity and social contribution.
