ISSN Croatia

Member since 1992

ISSN Centre for Croatia was established 33 years ago, in 1992, as the Croatian ISDS Centre in the Institute for Information Sciences and since 1994 operates as one of the departments in the National and University Library in Zagreb.

As part of splitting up the former Yugoslav database the Croatian ISDS Centre has identified 1136 Croatian records and started to assign ISSN to Croatian serial publications. At the end of 2024, there were 18375 Croatian records in the ISSN database. We are happy to contribute our share to common goal of ISSN Network regarding dissemination and the preservation of the cultural and scientific inheritance.

We participated in Cooperative program ISSN Network: Identification of Croatian Electronic Resources, held in International ISSN Centre, Paris from June 2 to August 31, 2002. That year, we hosted the 27th ISSN Directors’ meeting. We were proud recipients of the ISSN Award in 2010.

The current staff is made up of Danijela Getliher, head of Croatian NC from 2012 and member of ISSN Governing Board since 2020, Ljerka Arnuš and Zrinka Mužar.

Our previous staff included Jasenka Zajec, founder and head of the ISSN Centre for Croatia until 2012. She has also been a member of the ISSN Governing Board from 1996 to 2020 and also served as a chair in two mandates. It also included Vesna Marić, István Bárány, Vlatka Čiček, Vlatka Podhorsky, Marija Prlić, Franjo Pehar, Renata Petrušić, Ana Šafran and Marina Bilandžija.
