ISSN Algeria

Member since 1989

The Algerian ISSN Centre was created in 1989 with the receipt of the first magnetic tapes of the International Centre's database. The first managers were Mr Moussa Benhamadi, director of the CERIST centre and the national ISSN centre, and Mr Said Berrouk, technical manager. The Centre strengthened the rapid allocation of ISSNs to Algerian serial publications (in Algeria and abroad) and, above all, contributed to the development of the National Union Catalogue of Periodicals from 1989, which was also the first database to be put on line in 1995, with all the contents of the ISSN database.  The online publication of the ISSN database earned us a penalty. Mrs Hafida BENSSAD joined the team in 1998 and became the central figure for communication and processing activities, a role previously held by Mrs Fairouze Kerrouche and Mrs Tassadit Saad. To date, Mrs Bensaad and Mr Berouk have continued in the same capacity. The Centre has seen a succession of directors, the current one being Mr Zoubir Mokhtari.
