ISSN China
Member since 1985
In October 1985, China formally applied to join the International Serial Data System (ISDS). In November of the same year, the ISSN China Center (formerly the ISDS China Center) was officially established within the National Library of China (formerly the Beijing Library).
In April 1986, the China Center was invited to attend the 6th ISDS General Assembly in Paris, where it was officially announced that China had become a member of ISDS and had been elected to the Governing Board.
In September 2009, at the centenary of the founding of the National Library of China, the China Center successfully hosted the 34thmeeting of the ISSN Directors. More than 40 representatives from over 30 countries gathered in Beijing to engage in in-depth discussions on ISSN-related issues.
In January 2010, the China Center began to implement a free ISSN application policy, which received positive feedback both domestically and internationally.
At present, the ISSN China Center has an efficient team consisting of one director, three deputy directors, and three staff members responsible for daily operations.
